Be Something Greater! Become a Volunteer!

We need you! We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity in GREAT need of helping hands to help us build something amazing! It doesn't matter if you have no experience, we can teach you everything you need to know! (Creative mentoring is part of our mission!) We are currently very busy building the whole haunted house, and typically work 3-4 days per week. We do not have a minimum committment of time volunteered, but we hope you can at least help once a week. For more information, read on and be sure to check our FAQ below:

We need the most help right now with: We also have opportunities for:
- Scenic Painting
- Prop Making
- Set Building
- Set Dressing
- Actors/Voice Actors
- Tech Crew/Backstage
- Front of House (Crowd control/Info)
- & more!

We operate the haunt twice a year, August 1-4th at the World's Largest Halloween Convention, Midsummer Scream in Long Beach, and the last 2 weekends in October in Sylmar. We are accepting sign ups for both right now and VERY MUCH need your help!

Our volunteers are vital to our organization and highly appreciated. Aside from feeding you when you work, we have monthly drawings for Amazon gift cards, volunteer t-shirts, tickets to theme parks and more. If you help with Midsummer Scream, you'll get in to see the convention for free, and a special T-Shirt. We also put your name "in the credits" on the haunted house, as well as provide VIP access to the haunt for your family and friends.

Here are some common questions and answers:

How often do I need to work?

As often as you are able/willing. There are no miniums, but there will be prizes for the best attendance and more!

What kind of work will be expected of me?

If you can hold a paintbrush you are skilled enough to help. Scenery painting, foam carving/sculpting, set dressing, construction, special effects and audio setup are all part of the project. We'll teach you anything you need to know.

Who the hell is "Balthazar"?

He was the original Gothic Hills Cemetery keeper, played by Troy. Not a great guy. The character is retired now, but kind of sticks around as sort of a mascot.

What about the heat?

Unfortunately, it's a part of the build season. We do work through it, but provide plenty of shade, and have large industrial fans as well. On the hottest of days we have cooling mist running that really help too.

Do you feed us? What do I get for volunteering?

We do provide meals on most days where we're working more than 6 hours. On days when we don't provide a meal, you're welcome to bring your own or contribute (voluntarily) $10 to the take-out order. We'll let you know ahead of time if you need to bring lunch/dinner/etc. Be sure to let us know if you have any dietary needs.

Can my children help?

Kids 12 and up are welcome to lend a hand, but you must be present by their side at all times and are fully responsible for their safety and behavior. Much of the work we do wouldn't be appropriate for young children, and the build area can be dangerous.

Will there be a party?

Probably.

What is the schedule?

See Above. The schedule is subject to change depending on weather and production needs. Please make sure to stay tuned to the Facebook group (also above) for the latest details.

I would like to help but I don’t live nearby. Can I do something?

Yes! We're open to experienced haunters helping remotely. Contact us to discuss how you can help!
